Description
This is Summit, the Omega (lowest rank) of the River Valley Wolf Pack at the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center in West Yellowstone. This is more a preview of pictures to come from my vacation to Yellowstone National Park.
Summit was my favorite of the wolves first of all because of his right ear being floppy. In his pack there are three white males (Kootenai- alpha; Joseph- Beta; and Summit- Omega) and one grayish black female (Akela- alpha female). I was pretty proud of myself because before I asked a ranger I figured out that Summit was the omega and that Akela was the female and an alpha. Joseph and Kootenai were harder to guess (or keep straight for that matter), but apparently Kootenai has straighter ears and Joseph has more tan on his neck than the other two white wolves.
The second reason Summit was my favorite was because of his status and personality that I saw. I think he reminded me of my dog Stormy, who has always been the Omega of wherever he goes. (The Grizzly Bears reminded me of Nova for those who were wondering).
So yeah... I love Summit, and I love this picture of him. It was raining some too, in case you were wondering about the white streaks. This was taken through glass... Can't think of what else to say, so... Enjoy! More pictures will be posted when I get back in a week. Expect lots more of the River Valley Wolves and Summit!

Found you through *Critique-It. I don't know much about photography, but I think this is a wonderful shot. My favorite part really has nothing to do with the camera work, it's just how comfortable he appears, as if he's assured and familiar with you. The rain in the background is a nice extra!
