Today, January 14th, 2009, my 2 1/2 year old Guinea Pig Spike passed away of unknown causes.

I wish I'd put up more now. I wish I'd taken more... I wish I'd held him more and given him more treats....

So the whole story is that yesterday we found out Spike's upper front tooth was broken severely. We took him to the vet and the vet pulled the broken part of the tooth out. He said that Spike didn't feel it and that he would be fine. He assured us the only complication would be making sure his bottom teeth didn't get too long.

Then today I was at school from 7-5:30 (play practice was from 3-5:30) and when I got home I immediately fed my dogs and came up to check on Spike. As soon as I saw him I knew he was dead, but I couldn't bear finding out for sure so I went and got someone else. I've been crying ever since.

We buried Spike in my back yard. I picked some pretty flower cloth out to wrap him in... I think he'd like it.

I probably sound silly to all of you being so upset over "just a guinea pig" but Spike is one of my best friends. He was really sweet, and really friendly. He never bit anyone or peed on anyone and he loved to be petted and held. I wish I'd held him more. He always purred when you petted him, and it was a really cool noise.

So anyway... I don't know how much I can say. It's hard to see what you're typing when there are tears blocking your eyes.

So this is in memory of Spike. An adorable little guinea pig who died young and was the best friend a girl could have. This is to Spike.
