A View of Arches

This is a view of Turret Arch (and other bits of Arches) through the North Window. It was inspired by a picture that I saw on Deviantart, as well as by the picture that they had on a lot of posters and pamphlets in arches. When I saw pictures similar to this I thought it would be easy to take and wouldn't be much effort. I was wrong.

See the very bottom of the picture? Right there is a pretty sharp decline in the rock that forms a sort of slanted cliff. There's no way to stand on that cliff and get this picture. Trust me, I tried. Across the way from this arch is another slanted cliff, which my cousin =emgeal and I decided was the only way to get the picture. To solve this problem we climbed down the first cliff and up the other, ending up on a ledge where we had to lean against the rock to get this picture. I think the other photographers must have gone up the higher ledge above us, but considering I'm terrified of heights (and of dropping my camera off a cliff) and that my mother was just about having a heart attack watching as it was we decided to go ahead and stop there.

So... I hope you enjoy this picture. It's one of the hardest pictures I've ever tried to take, definitely the hardest landscape.
