Closure
The last memory Lydia had of her parents took place in a McDonalds. They had just finished eating and Lydia was making her Happy Meal dinosaur do a tap dance. Her mother had smiled, and her father had remained as stony faced as ever. Then, like any other meal, they stood up to leave. Lydia didn’t notice. Her dinosaur was in the middle of its big finale.
Her mother had kissed her on the top of her head and whispered something—Lydia didn’t know what. She hadn’t heard over the crowd of the McDonalds, and by the time she thought to turn around and ask, her parents weren’t behind her anymore.
